The Works
Join the Guild and company for The Works, a night of awe-inspiring creations. From contemporary ballet to acro-modern, urban hip hop, and musical theater, you'll get a little taste of everything the Guild has to offer. With 5 world premieres and 4 Guild premieres by Guild members Alex Ung, Jaime Waliczek, Karyn Tobin, and Robert Moore, this show will be full of the unexpected.
Three performances: Friday , October 11th at 7:30pm Saturday, October 12th at 4:00 & 7:30pm

About The Works:
World Premieres--
New Work by Robert Moore Performed by: Jennifer Allie, Lisa Kwak, Karyn Tobin Robert Moore's modern/contemporary work will be his first creation for the Guild Dance Company.
The Ebb Choreography: Karyn Tobin Music: Liam Hardison (new composition) Performed by: Lisa Kwak, Alex Ung, Karyn Tobin The Ebb takes inspiration from the ebb and flow of ideas and movements throughout time, and how that affects bodies and lives of during periods of change (both positive and negative) and unrest. Karyn Tobin. Ms. Tobins The Ebb, a work in contemporary and contemporary ballet styles, will be her first creation for the Guild Dance Company.
Cell Block Tango Choreography: Alex Ung Music: from the musical Chicago The Guild takes on a Broadway classic with Alex Ungs modern/contemporary version of Cell Block Tango. Watch the strong, powerful women of the Guild take the stage. Guilty? or Not Guilty?
Urban Love Choreography: Alex Ung Guild Artistic Director Alex Ung will create a full company work in urban contemporary style, Urban Love.
New Work by Jaime Waliczek Performed by: Jaime Waliczek and Stella Kutz Jaime Waliczek, artistic director of Jerboa Dance, will create a contemporary duet, her first work for the Guild Dance Company.

About the Artists
Founded in 2018 by Artistic Director Alex Ung, the Guild Dance Company was created as a place for artists to collaborate and create works together, sharing stories, experiences, expressions, and memories with each other and their audiences through contemporary artistry. The Guild Dance Company is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
Robert Moore, from Hamden, CT, began dancing at New England Ballet and continued at Dee Dees Dance Center and New Haven Ballet. He is an alumnus of Earl Mosleys Institute of the Arts, the Ailey Summer Intensive, Cunningham Trust Workshop, Jacobs Pillows Commercial Dance Program, and the Complexions Intensive. He went to Mexico with JUNTOS Collective, and taught with Notes in Motion, Arthur Aviles Typical Theatre, and JD/dansfolk. Robert graduated magna cum laude from the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program and has danced with Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre, The Steps Repertory Ensemble, AATMA Performing Arts, Whidbey Island Dance Theatre, Tacoma Urban Performing Arts Center, Spectrum Dance Theater, and Khambatta Dance Company
Karyn Tobin grew up in rural Tenino, Washington, while training and performing with Ballet Northwest in Olympia. She earned her BFA from the Advanced Degree Program at Cornish College of the Arts in 2017. Karyn currently works as a dance artist based in Seattle. She has recently performed with HYPERNOVA Contemporary Dance Company and in assemblage artist Christin Calls work. Karyn also works as an Admission Counselor for Cornish.
Alex Ung began his dancer career in college as a hip hop teacher and choreographer while a student at Iowa State University. Now his styles range from crew-style hip hop to contemporary jazz, musical theatre, and contemporary ballet. Alex teaches for Pacific Northwest Ballets Eastside Summer Dance Workshops and is a frequent teaching artist at Seattle Childrens Theatre, where he most recently choreographed Seussical Jr. He was on the faculty of Bainbridge Ballet from 2008-2016, where he made award-winning choreography for Bainbridge Ballet Competition Dance Team and choreographed for Olympic Performance Group. Alex has also taught at Northwest School of Dance, and Momentum Dance. On stage, he has performed with Bainbridge Performing Arts, Jerboa, Olympic Ballet Theatre, Olympic Performance Group, Pacific MusicWorks, Peaches Christ Productions, Seattle Musical Theatre, and Seattle PRIDE Mainstage, among other dance and theater companies.
Jaime Waliczek took dance classes growing up in Chicago at Gus Giordano and Studio Two while doing high-level competitive gymnastics. She continued her training at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. After moving to Seattle, Jaime performed with Eastside Moving Company from 2000-2002, working with Deborah Wolf and Wade Madsen, and whet her choreography appetite by creating her first modern work. She began teaching yoga and performing fulltime, dancing with Fusion Dance, Better Biscuit, XODO, Unexpected, R Dance, and Seattle Jazz along withDASS Danceand Seattle Opera as dance captain. She worked with choreographers at the University of Washington while completing her Masters degree in nutrition and with Angela Harriell for Nutcracker Rated R and other works while living in NYC during the 2007 season. In addition to her work with Jerboa Dance,Jaimes choreography has been shown in the DUMBO festival, Cool NY festival, DNA Works in Progress, and guest performances for events and shows, including Around the World in 80 Sips and Trip and Fall. Her extensive background in gymnastics and yoga informs her movement and choreography.
