Earthly Power
During the month of September, The Sublime Theater will present "Father Abraham," an American Epic, on the life of Abraham Lincoln, by award-winning playwright David Brendan Hopes.
Under the direction of Associate Artistic Director John Crutchfield, an ensemble of local actors and musicians will present "The Loves of Mr. Lincoln," "Earthly Power," and "The Testament of Major Rathbone" as a series of rehearsed readings at The Block off Biltmore (39 South Market Street in downtown Asheville) on three consecutive Saturday evenings in September: the 7th, 14th, and 21st. The cast includes Matt Burke, Kristi DeVille, Matthew Harper, Kelley Hinman, Dusty McKeelan, Willie Repoley, Olivia Stuller, Elijah York, and the playwright, with live music on fiddle and banjo by Meredith McIntosh and John Crutchfield.
All readings begin at 6:00 PM (doors open at 5:30) and are free and open to the public, but seating is extremely limited. Seats may be reserved in advance with a minimum $5 contribution.
