One performances only on Saturday, Oct 19th at 2:30pm at the Laney College Odell Johnson Performing Arts Theater! MANYA: The Living History of Marie Curie is presented by the Laney College Chemistry Department, California Section of the American Chemical Society & Women Chemists Committee

Marie Curie best known for the discovery of radioactivity  including the first successful treatment for cancer  but few understand the obstacles she faced just to get into the laboratory.

MANYA: The Living History of Marie Curie invites audiences of all ages to meet Marie Curie as she recollects her quest to isolate two elements  polonium and radium. From her childhood in Poland to groundbreaking research in France, Dr. Curie shares the struggles, failures and triumphs behind her scientific discoveries and remarkable collaboration with companion scientist & husband Pierre Curie.

Whether looking at Marie within her historical context or through the lens of a new millennium, this is a life that challenges our assumptions about what one person can achieve and the responsibilities of science.
