The Sky Colony with Nobody's Peach at the Firefly Lounge
The Sky Colony
--------------

Since their formation, The Sky Colony has used their vintage-tinged sound to promote personal empowerment, discovery, social awareness, and the healing power of psychotropic plants. These special plants allow access to different parts of our existence explains Findley-Meier, and change the lens we are looking through. Its internal travel.

In 2012 Kyle Findley-Meier began writing what would become their first LP (In A Dream, 2015) in an old, leaky trailer, nestled among the northern California cannabis fields he was working. Findley-Meier shared these first sketches to a few friends back home, and soon enough he returned to the Skagit Valley. He then settled into a small house in the Cascade foothills with guitarist/vocalist Ben Meyer. They were a half hour away from any town, got immersed in Skyrim, and adopted a rabbit named Chorizo Al Pastor.

Soon enough the duo took to the road, traveling across Washington State, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, northern California, and Oregon, steadily still being influenced by travels and sharing their message of compassion and hope. Their efforts have led them to perform at festivals such as Britt Festival and Summer Meltdown, and performances with artists such as Shook Twins, Darlingside, The California Honeydrops, Fruition, Flowmotion, Karl Blau, and Kuinka.
When the time came to record In A Dream, Findley-Meier and Meyer enlisted the assistance of Masters College banjo player extraordinaire Molly Hazel and brilliant drummer dad Jeff Lacy. The record was lauded for its mixture of the call of the Cascadian wilderness and the 60's psychedelia era (Folkwords UK) and its lack of special effects, just pure musicianship. (No Depression).

Since then, the full-time lineup has evolved to include founders Kyle Findley-Meier (rhythm guitar, lead vocal) and Ben Meyer (lead guitar, vocal), along with Jeff Lacy (drums, vocal), and Marcus Nevitt (keys, lap steel, vocal). Weve had a lot of great crews in this band. This feels like the one, though. says Findley-Meier. We are good friends, kinda brothers with a mission.

Recorded by Pacific Northwest studio master Michael Iris in the Cascade foothills Bell Creek Studio, All of Us is a true call out to the bands influential roots. Its our response to both not releasing anything for a while, how much everything has changed since then, Findley-Meier says. All of us know how important this project is in our lives, seeing what art can do to inspire us to come together in these strange times of adversity. Its our homage to the music that inspired us the most from the 60s, when rapid social change led by art was as necessary as it is now.

Nobody's Peach
--------------
This group of songsters are every bit as fresh as their name suggests!  Band members are: Matney Cook (formerly of the Mudflat Walkers and Water Bear)on vocals, rhythm guitar and mandolin, lead guitarist and vocalist Cole Melcher (formerly of Moongrass), bass master Tom McKay (formerly of Moongrass and Local Ghost), and drummer and vocalist Taylor Merlina (formerly of Moongrass and Local Ghost). Nobody's Peach joined together to be the honkey tonk dance band for a fundraiser at Ekone Ranch over in Goldendale, Wa back in September 2018. Dancing patrons and band alike had such a blast, they decided to make it official and haven't looked back since.

Their music combines flavors of sweet and saucy, and one may consider their sound a blend of rockin, country and soul tunes. Their original songs are collaboratively written by Taylor and Matney.  The band is hard at work self producing and recording their debut album, release date TBA. Influences include: Shovels and Rope, Ween, Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty, Gillian Welch, John Prine, and Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings.
