The Just Jazz Quintet
The JJQ (Just Jazz Quintet) is a five-piece combo based in northern Colorado (Fort Collins, Loveland, Greeley, and vicinity). Not just another jazz band, this group of well-trained musicians plays straight-ahead contemporary jazz with verve, taste, and technical proficiency.
In its current incarnation, the JJQs regular personnel are: Ron Holleman on trumpet, flugelhorn, and other trumpet-like things Andrew Vogt on saxophones, clarinet, and other woodwinds Chuck Landgraf on drums/percussion Micheal Olson on bass Bob Montgomery on piano/keyboards
The JJQ was started in 2000 by trumpeter/flugelhornist Ron Holleman and drummer Chuck Landgraf, and the combination worked so well that the band lived and grew. The JJQ is now a local fixture and plays regularly at a variety of venues around the area (see Gigs for current info).
Along the way the band has built a loyal following of appreciative fans, and their monthly third-Friday gigs at Avogadros Number in Fort Collins attract enthusiastic, standing-room-only crowds. Theyve also performed for the Fort Collins Jazz Festival, Windsor Arts Festival, Loveland Art Museum, Fort Collins Museum, Tri-Media Film Festival, Fort Collins Downtown Business Association, and a variety of corporate parties and private gigs.
The JJQs personnel are all experienced jazz musicians. See the Bios page for more about the five regular members. In addition, the larger JJQ Family includes a number of excellent area musicians who sometimes sit in as substitutes or augment the band as guests see JJQ Friends below for some of their names.
