Living Arts Playback Theatre Ensemble presents Immigrant Stories
The Living Arts Playback Theatre Ensemble is an interactive improvisational theatre company that enacts real life personal stories, on the spot. Join us at the David Brower Center's Goldman Theatre on Saturday October 5th and experience first hand the power and delight of Playback Theatre.
In light of the current immigration crisis and lapse of empathy on a national level, we feel called to respond. We present an evening to honor the experience of immigrants, current and past. Together, we celebrate our commonality as a nation of immigrants, whether we arrived by choice, fleeing persecution or by force. Audience members from diverse cultures are invited to share personal stories connected to their immigrant experience and legacy. The actors and musicians will transform these stories into improvised theatre pieces.
The Living Arts Playback Theatre Ensemble is a nonprofit theater company that offers improvisational performances and workshops for community groups, businesses, and individuals in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since 1986, we have worked with schools, hospitals, organizations, social justice and activist groups, religious communities, conferences, private events like weddings, birthdays, and milestones, as well as for the general public throughout our fall and spring seasons. At the heart of our work is a profound respect for the power of personal story to build bridges between people and cultures. The Living Arts Playback Theatre Ensemble has been invited to perform at the International Playback Theatre Conference in India this December 2019.
The Living Arts Playback Theatre Ensemble features Artistic Director and Conductor Armand Volkas and Ensemble members Geno Creese, Vicki Dello Joio, Laurel Elliott, Rae Ann Goldberg, John Kadyk, Christine Kalb, Allison Kenny, Sangita Kumar, Kholoud Nasser, Adrian Orozco-Blair, Merry Ross, Rebecca Siegel and Jordan Stewart.
