23rd Annual Puppet Festival
Two Great Acts:  One Amazing Show!

Parasol Puppets Present:  GEORGE AND THE DRAGON
Youll have a front row seat to fun when you sit down to watch Parasol Puppets George And The Dragon at The Jarvis Conservatory. Puppeteer Peter Allen uses colorful hand puppets to perform this exciting puppet show!

Our hero, George, discovers that a dragon is destroying the Kingdom, and it wants to eat the Princess for dinner! It is up to George (with the audiences help) to rescue the Princess and slay the Dragon. Georges quest takes him to the farmlands, the Kings palace, into the Wizards cave and even outside the Dragons lair. All of these locations are hand-painted onto scenery, which dramatically unrolls as the story unfolds.

Oregon Shadow theatre Presents:  PECOS BILL, A TALL TALE
Oregon Shadow Theatre presents their award winning shadow puppet play, Pecos Bill, A Tall Tale. In the folklore of the American West, Pecos Bill has been called the creator of the Rio Grande, the lasso, the rodeo, and the first cowboy songs. The OST production follows Bill from his childhood (raised by coyotes, howling on a moonlit night!) through his adventures (fighting mythical beasts, riding a cyclone, falling in love with a woman who gets bucked, clear over the moon!) to the inevitable settling of the West.

Mick Doherty takes on the character of a very old man who was a cowboy "back in them days..." Visible down stage from the shadow screen, the old man shares the story of Pecos Bill. The storyteller fades into darkness as the characters come to life with colorful shadow puppets. Deb Chase brings the puppets to life as Doherty provides musical and sound effects accompaniment. The graceful movement of the shadow figures, visual effects combine with sounds of hammered dulcimer, harmonica and various sound effects devices to create a delightful rendition of the tall tale of Pecos Bill.
