The Whipping Man
Mathew Lopez's fascinating drama, The Whipping Man. This powerful play is about a wounded Jewish Confederate soldier who returns home after the war has ended. He finds his home in ruin and abandoned, save for two former slaves, Simon and John. As the three men wait for signs of life to return to the city, they wrestle with their shared past, the bitter irony of a Jewish slave-owner preparing a humble Seder to observe the ancient celebration of the freeing of the Hebrew slaves from Egypt, and the reality of the new world in which they find themselves. Deep-buried secrets from the past refuse to stay hidden as the play comes to it's shocking climax.
The show dates are as follows: September 6, 7, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21. All show times start at 7:30 except the Sunday matinee on September 15. The Sunday Matinee show time is 2:00. Tickets: $15.00 / $13.00 seniors and students
