Flying Dreams ~ A Vaudevillian Tragicomedy by Aaron Jessup
Footloose continues its new monthly series at The Garage with the San Francisco premiere of Aaron Jessup's solo production, Flying Dreams which just closed a successful run at the Santa Cruz Fringe Festival where the Producer, Dixie Lee Mills, exclaimed, "People can't stop raving about this show!" Other positive audience responses include: "Everything theater should be: funny, poignant and virtuosic." "Fantastically entertaining!" "Heart, smarts and skills."
Flying Dreams draws from Aaron Jessup's personal experiences as a second-generation street performer. Jessup went from shy San Francisco teenage juggler to performing in 12 countries on three continents and winning top honors at international busking competitions. Aaron's emotionally complex coming-of-age story is portrayed through hilarious and heartbreaking vignettes in this solo show with entertaining humor and touching poignancy.
He has performed throughout the U.S., Europe and Australia, from comedy clubs to cruise ships, stages to street corners. Locally, Aaron has appeared with Pickle Family Circus, Make*A*Circus, and the Izzy award-winning Scott Wells and Dancers. In 2011, Aaron won the prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship and was accepted as one of only four students in the MFA Acting program at UC Davis. Graduating in June of 2013, Aaron hit the professional ground running, performing Flying Dreams at the Santa Cruz Fringe Festival in July. Aaron owes a debt of gratitude to his father, for starting him down the winding road of art making, as well as his talented instructors and colleagues at UC Davis, particularly Larry Bogad, MaryBeth Cavanaugh, Iu-Hui Chua and Bella Merlin. Also, significant creative contributions were also made by David Ford at The Marsh.
