PRESERVING SUMMER TOMATOES WITH SPICY 'N SWEET

To-may-to, to-mah-to - whichever way you say it, August is peak season for tomatoes in our region. Celebrate the summer's bounty by joining New Amsterdam Market and Spicy 'n Sweet for a day of communal tomato canning at the Old American Can Factory in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Spicy 'n Sweet's head cook, Nonna Carolina will lead a hands-on tutorial on how to safely preserve tomatoes, so you can leave with the confidence to try it at home. You'll also take home a jar of preserve tomatoes made during the session, a limited-edition jar of Nonna's Smoky Sauce, and a bag of pasta from Sfoglini. A light lunch will be served.
Your $50 ticket includes: - a hands-on tomato canning tutorial with Spicy 'n Sweet, with all supplies provided - a 32 oz. jar of preserve tomatoes made during the session to take home - a limited-edition jar of Nonna's Smoky Sauce to take home - a bag of pasta from Sfoglini to take home - a light pasta lunch with wine
