Wild Edibles Walk With a Permaculture Focus 9/14 2-5pm
This course will be held at Middle Creek Farm in Myersville, MD. Eric Joseph Lewis is a highly knowledgeable naturalist, who is enthusiastic about wild foods, mushrooms, and creating new reciprocal paradigms of how we interact with other beings. Influenced by the lens of permaculture, he seeks to highlight and connect people to the relationship of abundance from the world we walk upon. In this walk and talk we will explore:
-The simplest strategies for getting to know plants
-How to correctly identify plants and mushrooms and how to rule out poisonous look a-likes
-The top wild staple foods in the area
-How to gather enough calories in a day to last a month
-How to harvest sustainably and promote wild edibles with guerrilla planting tactics
-How to incorporate more wild edibles into sustainable food producing ecosystems
-Plant propagation techniques for the best wild edibles in the Mid-Atlantic
Bring a friend or three, snacks to share, and note taking materials if they help you to learn. Audio and video recording is allowed and encouraged (check in with the group to make sure everyone else consents to being audio and video recorded) especially if the content will be shared online.
Please bring your Photo ID for check-in. Printing your ticket ahead of time is not necessary.

Drive down the gravel lane (0.1mi) Keep straight when you see the fork in the road(0.1mi) Your destination is a white farmhouse with a wrap around porch. We will meet out front
