Huntington U: Six Wives in Six Weeks: The Many Marriages of Henry VIII
Thursdays, Oct. 3-Nov. 7 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Take a whirlwind ride through the many lives of the many wives of Henry VIII, in this six-week seminar led by Lori Anne Ferrell, the John D. and Lillian Maguire Distinguished Professor in the Humanities at Claremont Graduate University. The course considers the historical significance, during a turbulent reign, of Henry's six wives: Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard, and Catherine Parr. It also explores their many afterlives-literary, dramatic, pictorial, cinematic, and even musical. The Huntington's holdings provide essential material evidence to enrich the conversation about this pivotal historical period.
Class is held in the Seaver Classroom 3 of the Munger Research Center. Visit any admission window for directions to the Munger Research Center for check-in at 9:45 a.m.
Registration is not available day of the event. To be added to a wait list, call 626-405-3457. Refunds require 5-day cancellation notification.
