Gary Furlow and the Loafers & Woodlander
When you're born and raised in a musical melting pot that is New Orleans, you get a wide variety of sounds flowing through your head. Jazz, Soul, Country, R & B, Blues, Rock & Roll, Dixieland. Gary now makes the Great Pacific Northwest his home. That makes for a unique mix of mountains, gators, rain, bayous and the people he's met along the way. The soul of the deep South still find its way into his songs as does the spirit of the Northwest. The Loafers are Kerry Canfield on bass, Phil Hornik on guitar and Matt Miner on percussion. Also joining the Loafers are Will Hobbs and Paul Douglas of Woodlander. Will Hobbs, Paul Douglas and Kerry Canfield have played together since the 1970s in a popular Northwest rock/country/bluegrass band called Wheatfield (www.wheatfieldoregon.com), which was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame in 2011 (www.omhof.org). All three write, and Will has several local and national songwriting and lyric competition wins to his credit. With three singers and multi-instrumentalists, you can expect many three part harmonies, along with various combinations of instrumentation and musical influences.
