Advanced Topics in Prevention, Identification and Treatment of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders
This training is open to Whatcom County providers and community members.
As this is an advanced training, this training is open to those who attended last year's 1 day Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) training in Bellingham or an equivalent introduction to PMADs training.
This training is offered by Perinatal Support WA through a grant from Strengthening Families Washington at the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF).
Objectives of this Advanced Topics training: *Understand the impact of birth experiences on postpartum emotional health *Become knowledgeable about risk and symptoms for partners and fathers *Become knowledgeable about psychiatric medications during pregnancy and breastfeeding. *Become knowledgeable about supporting families in the NICU *Become knowledgeable about feeding issues and perinatal mental health *Understand the impact on infant and children *Understand impacts on partners and relationships.

6.5 CEUs approved for LICSWs, LMHCs, and LMFTs 6.5 Contact hours are available for RNs
This Program has been approved for 6.5 CEUs for Licensed Social Workers, Mental Health Counselors and Marriage and Family Therapists by the Washington State Society for Clinical Social Work.

Perinatal Support Washington is a state-wide non-profit dedicated to shining a light on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
Leslie Butterfield, PhD is a clinical psychologist who specializes in pregnancy and postpartum issues. At her Seattle, WA private practice she works with moms and couples struggling with pregnancy and neonatal loss, the transition to parenthood, pregnancy and postpartum mood disorders, and birth related trauma. Additionally, she has designed and taught the counseling skills curriculum for Seattle Midwifery School and Bastyr Naturopathic University's Department of Midwifery for the past 15 years.
In her capacity as an educator, Leslie has provided trainings and consultations to: University of Washington; Singapore KKH Hospital for Women; AWHONN(Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses); Marce Society; PALS (Pacific Association of Labor Support); API (Attachment Parenting International), NAPS (Northwest Association for Postpartum Support), Catholic Charities, Planned Parenthood, and others. Recently she has served on the board of PATTCh (Prevention and Treatment of Traumatic Childbirth) as Vice President, and Perinatal Support Washington as the former chair and current board member.
