Tom Heyman & Wire Troop House Concert:
Talk about a terrific twin bill with a few of our absolute favorites as Roots Hoot House Concerts welcomes Bay Area-based singer and songwriter Tom Heyman along with NYC-based pub rockers Wire Troop who will both back Tom and perform their own set. It all goes down Saturday, October 19 here at Roots Hoot Central.
We first discovered Tom back in his Go to Blazes band days. GTB was a Philly-based entity who did some alt country damage in the late 1980s and into the '90s and boy were we fans. Tom eventually made the move to San Fran after the band's breakup. After relocating there in 1998, he began working as a sideman, eventually joining local favorites The Court and Spark, as well as Chuck Prophets band. All the while he was discovering his voice as a solo artist and bandleader and started making his own pretty great records. "Show Business, Baby" is his latest and it is a complete keeper of a record.
Formed in 2014 by three veteran NYC rock and rollers: Jay Sherman-Godfrey (World Famous Bluejays, Laura Cantrell) on guitar, John Lee on bass and Tom McCrum on drums, Wire Troop melds the muscle of a 60s-style power trio with the finesse and stylistic breadth of 70s pub rockers, playing an eclectic selection of second-hand blues, old time rock 'n' roll, Tex-Mex, boogie, R&B instrumentals and garage rock. You can hear it all on the band's excellent new longplayer called Trio Power. Simply put, do NOT miss! Doors are at 7 pm and show time PROMPTLY at 7:30. Don't miss out! This is a BYOB/ lite bite show.
