smARTfilms: Childhood Framed - "The Mirror"
Join BIMA for five weeks of films curated by Steve Tremble, Bainbridge Arts & Crafts executive director and a former director of Cornell University's film program.
The works in this series are not childrens films, but films about the mysteries of childhood which, of course, are the same mysteries we carry into adulthood. These comedies and dramas, rich in observation and allegory, are both as simple and complex as childhood itself.
All sales are final. No refunds.

The Mirror is a dazzling exploration of Andrei (Stalker) Tarkovskys infancy, adolescence and marriage, via the reconstruction of memories built on a powerful mix of fantasy and newsreel actuality. Tracing the resemblances, recriminations, and reconciliations between three generations of his family, Tarkovsky sets The Mirror in his customary borderland between public and private territories and creates a work of moving and melancholy grandeur.
