Celtic Community Night with Stomptowners
Connecting Celtic Appreciators in Portland PORTLAND CELTIC COMMUNITY NIGHT Second Wednesday every month.
The goal is simple: Create a stronger, vibrant, and more unified community of Celtic musicians, dancers, and artists, and appreciators within the Portland, Oregon region. By hosting evenings that include performances by local and regional bands and artists, followed by an open traditional music and dance session, we can help foster a fun and inclusive environment where everyone can appreciate and participate in Celtic culture.
The Stomptowners is a remarkable musical ensemble that blends traditional Irish music with voice and dynamic Irish dance. This four piece is comprised of Uilleann Pipes, Irish bouzouki, fiddle, whistles, breathtaking vocals and dynamic foot percussion. The tradition comes to life with all the energy todays audience craves.
The Stomptowners have something for everyone. A typical performance includes smoking hot Irish and Scottish tunes; choreographed Irish dance; voice with foot percussion; arranged songs as well as evocative a cappella pieces. The Stomptowners repertoire is fresh, alive and relevant to the season. And space permitting, this band will bring the dance floor to capacity!
At the core of The Stomptowners is vocalist Andrea Wild, Uilleann Pipe player, Preston Howard, Irish Bouzouki player, Zac Leger and dancer Kelsey Wilson.
In addition, The Stomptowners round out their performances on an as needed basis with guest musicians such as flautist Conor O'Bryan. Other top notch musicians who add to the line-up are multi-instrumentalist, Bob Soper and Sean-nos dancer and singer, Brian OHairt.
