Live Rich Die Poor the Zora Neale Hurston story is Being Filmed
Based on the life of Zora Neale Hurston, the brilliant writer from the Harlem Renaissance who wrote Their Eyes Were Watching God comes an unapologetic look at her colorful life. Actress and writer Ann Perry Wallace re-imagines scenes from Hurston's life; from her happy days in Eatonville, Florida; the devastating loss of her mother; the lost years of wandering that she never spoke of; to arriving in New York and becoming a fixture within the writing world of the Harlem Renaissance and even her legendary falling out with Langston Hughes. This is a study of a woman who fought to thrive and to use every single gift while she yet lived. Her life has the power to instruct, inspire and illuminate. We don't often see the vulnerable Zora but this show asks us strap in and put ourselves in Zora's shoes as she confronts her own life choices.
Three opportunities to see this spirited show. Come see Live Rich Die Poor and explore this dynamic writer and this ever relevant theme.
Ann Wallace delivers a virtuoso performance. I thought there was no new ground that yet another show about Zora could cover. I was wrong. The show is fresh, vital, and relevant. This show does not beg to be seen, it demands to be seen.
