La noche que dejaste de actuar/The night that you stopped acting, is a one woman show in which Anabella Lenzu both questions and affirms the reality of being a creator, an artist, and a spectator. It's a reexamination of five key pieces of her repertory as well as an investigation of the very nature of the creative process, asking: "If a work of dance is created in the here and now, what happens when the here and now changes? How do the changes of our circumstances, our lives, and our bodies, alter our approach as dancers and choreographers?" These are the questions from which the show was born. Anabella's work reflects her experience as a Latina/European artist living in New York and comes from a deep examination of my motivations as a woman, mother and immigrant.
This piece is sponsored, in part, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC). It was developed at CUNY Dance Initiative at Lehman College 2019-2020 and funded in part by generous grants from Edward Foundation Arts Fund, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, MATERIALS FOR THE ARTS, NYC Department of Cultural Affairs/NYC Department of Sanitation/NYC Department of Education and private donations.
Special Thanks to Kate Valk, Todd Carroll, Daniel Pettrow, Salvatore Cataldo, Maria Victoria Ric Biraben, Danielle Di Felice, Patricia Beaman, Naoko Maeshiba, Rachel Cohen & CPR Staff.
