Individual trauma is defined by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as an event, series of events, or set of circumstances that is experienced by an individual as physically or emotionally harmful or life threatening and that has lasting adverse effects on the individuals functioning and mental, physical, social, emotional, or spiritual well-being.
In a "Mini TED talk" format with discussion, a distinguished group of researchers and clinicians will discuss current understandings of the neuroscience of memory and trauma, secondary and vicarious stress affecting health care providers, and current approaches and innovations in the treatment of emotional and psychological trauma including psychedelic- and MDMA-assisted therapies, and the new "non-exposure" Flash Technique®. The role of trauma in health, with international perspectives, will also be addressed.
This program will be of interest to medical, nursing, mental health and spiritual care providers.

The program will start at 6:45pm with a short introduction and experience of seated yoga presented by Nora Burnett CIYT. Nora has taught Iyengar Yoga for 30 years, including classes of all levels, topical workshops, retreats, and Teacher Education, primarily at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco.

The California Board of Behavioral Sciences accepts CE credits for LCSW, LPCC, LEP, and LMFT license renewal for programs offered by approved sponsors of CE by the American Psychological Association. LCSWs, MFTs, and other mental health professionals from states other than California need to check with their state licensing board as to whether or not they accept programs offered by approved sponsors of CE by the American Psychological Association.. SCRC is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN Provider CEP16887) for licensed nurses in California.
