Workshop 7 - MHAIRI MARWICK - Upper Hall - Youth Workshop - Beginner
In this workshop, Mhairi will teach a simple fiddle tune by ear and look at some technique tips no prior experience of learning by ear is required, but please note this workshop would be a little too tricky for complete beginners who have never played before at all.
A renowned teacher, Mahairi runs a fiddle teaching school in Fochabers, jointly organises the Fochabers Fiddle Week, which welcomes over 50 young people each year for tuition. She was also a finalist as Music Tutor of the Year in the 2018 MG Alba Scots Trad Music awards, and was a finalist in young trad musician of the year in 2014. Is also Artistic Director of the Arc Sessions in Fochabers Mhairi was raised in the North East folk music traditions of Fochabers and was taught fiddle by James Alexander MBE, but has since expanded her styles and travels widely featuring in various bands and groups covering many genres. She currently plays with the collaborative jazz/folk, Glasgow-based Fat-Suit, and performs regularly with Celtic Worship.
