"The Theory Conspiracy" with Carlos Homs, James Robbins and Juan Chiavassa
This show is part of the Pangea Jazz Festival which runs from August 23 through August 31, 2019.
The Theory Conspiracy is a jazz piano trio based out of NYC that pays homage to the great trios of the past, like Cedar Walton, Bill Evans and Bud Powell while also forging a new trio language for modern styles and genres. Every song is a different aspect of the art of the trio, from lush ballads and swinging blues, to interpretations of classic songs from the 80s and 90s and original hip-hop, jazz and rock compositions from every member of the band. More than anything, they are all about fun, unpredictability and creating a visceral and emotional experience for their audience, from deep sadness, to intense rage to overwhelming joy.
The Theory Conspiracy is James Robbins on bass, Juan Chiavassa on drums and Carlos Homs on piano and keyboards. They came together on New Years Day of 2019 after realizing they all shared the same passion and love for all things trio. They are all successful sidemen on the scene, playing with legends like Lenny White, Jeff Tain Watts (James), Dave Kikowski, Leo Genovese (Juan) Reggie Workman and Steve Lehman (Carlos). They played their first show at Pangea in NYC on 4/20/2019 and after a busy summer individually are looking forward to their first run of shows in Fall 2019.
