Welcome Bach!
La Follia performs the earliest masterworks of J. S. Bach.
Featured are three sublime cantatas (BWV 4, 106, and 196), an audacious Toccata for harpsichord, and the unforgettable Toccata and Fugue in D minor for organ.
Performing are Gitanjali Mathur, soprano, Robbie LaBanca, countertenor, Jeffrey Jones-Ragona, tenor, Gil Zilkha, bass-baritone, Bradley Bennight, harpsichord, and Keith Womer, organ. They are joined by a ten-piece Baroque orchestra led by concertmaster and 2019 Austin Critics Table award winner Stephen Redfield.
Sara Schneider from KMFA Classical 89.5 will provide commentary during the concert.
30 minutes before curtain, there will be a recital by three young artists who participated in La Follias Bach for Young Musicians youth outreach project in August. They will perform works by J. S. Bach on harpsichord.
