Permaculture in Cuba
The Shed is Pasadena's emerging space for urban agriculture, sustainable development, planning, permaculture, and land use. A place for organizations, professionals and enthusiasts to meet each other, share projects and learn from one another.

Roberto PĂ©rez Rivero Environmentalist, sustainability activist and educator. Roberto has been part of the Cuban Permaculture Movement since its introduction in the country in 1993. After 1995, he became instrumental in Urban and Sustainable Agriculture (Permaculture, Organic farming, Agroforestry and Agroecology) environmentally friendly changes of Cuba towards Food sovereignty. Starting in 2002, he has extensively worked with communities living inside Cuban National Parks and Protected Areas, rescuing traditional knowledge on Bio-cultural diversity and bringing sustainable techniques to their settlements. Roberto has been also involved in watershed, Coastal and marine ecosystems and small island community sustainable development, especially in sustainable fisheries and species conservation and climate resiliency.
International Permaculture Congress, 2013 Roberto will be speaking about his permaculture work in Cuba, as well as the 2013 International Permaculture Congress in Cuba in November of this year, where Roberto will facilitate a Permaculture Design Course with other internationally renowned teachers including Ron Berezan (CA), Brock Dolman (USA), Paulo Mellet (UK), and Eric Toensmeier (USA). The IPC11 will feature a three day Conference with the theme "Island Permaculture, Urban Permaculture, and Permaculture and Climate Change." http://ipc11cuba.com/
