David Stern Quartet
This show is part of the Pangea Jazz Festival which runs from August 23 through August 31, 2019.
NYC-based jazz guitarist brings his quartet to Pangea featuring Lewis Porter on piano, Ugonna Okegwo on bass, and Tommy Campbell on drums.
David Stern is a jazz guitarist, composer, arranger, educator, and author based in New York City. Lewis Porter is an acclaimed pianist as well as an educator who founded and directs the Master's program in jazz history and research at Rutgers University. Ugonna Okegwo is a German-Nigerian jazz bassist and composer who is very sought after in the NYC scene. For those who have never experienced Tommy Campbell live, it is a treat not to miss; his work is mind-boggling, for those with the ear to hear for the subtlety of his work in the pocket.
"A Helluva Piano Player" - JazzTimes
"His training on the straight-ahead and avant scenes is evident in the repertoire and in his technique, which has an austere, pure, yet simple tone." - All About Jazz
