Music Under the Pines House Concert with Lil' Rev and The Beloffs
Music Under the Pines is extremely pleased to host both Lil' Rev and Liz & Jim Beloff in one incredible house concert! All are well-renowned in the ukulele community, with dozens of books and hundreds of shows nationally across the country and around the world under their belts. This is a rare opportunity to see them in the intimacy of a living room - get ready for some rollicking ukulele fun!
Lil' Rev Lil Rev is a one-man-walking-and-a-talking music history revival. Showering listeners with blues, jazz, folk, old time, novelty, early country and originals. He performs vocal and instrumental repertoire on a variety of ukuleles including Baritone, Tenor, Resonator, Soprano, Concert, Banjo Ukulele and 8-string-Taropatch.
Liz and Jim Beloff As performers, Flea Market Music founders, Liz and Jim Beloff, have become known for their breezy, close harmonies on standards like Tonight You Belong To Me, Que Sera, Sera and The Glory Of Love. They are also know for the songs Jim has written with frequent collaborators, Herb "Ohta-San" Ohta and Lyle Ritz as well as songs he has written on his own. These include concert favorites such as Rare Air, Just Like New York, Aging Gratefully, The Open Road, Old In New Mexico, Charles Ives, The French Café and Closer To The Light.
The doors open at 6:30 and the concert starts at 7:30. There will be a pot-luck prior to the show, bring a dish to pass and mingle with your fellow uke enthusiasts. We hope to have a uke strum after the performance.
This is an intimate show in a private living room, so the exact address in Okemos is not privately listed. You must have a reservation to attend as space is very limited. Once you reserve your tickets, you will get an email listing the address.
"Listen to this! Lil Rev is great!" Pete Seeger
"(Lil' Rev is) A remarkable musician, entertainer and teacher." John Leefe, Mayor of Liverpool, Nova Scotia
"Famous for his Jumpin' Jim's songbooks of pop and folk standards, Beloff also writes clever new uke songs, his tricky rhymes matching the make-it-seem simple complexity of the best uke playing. Together, the Beloffs exude a love, amiability and sweetness that can't be faked." Chris Arnott, New Haven Advocate
