Home Mead Making Workshop
Home Mead Making Workshop with Jonathan Zamick. Hippocras? Cyser? Melomel? Mead is one of the oldest fermented drinks known to man. Learn about the history of mead, its common derivations, and how to make it at home! Participants will taste some samples and receive a kit including local honey and all the supplies needed to ferment a gallon batch. Must be 21 years of age at the time of the class.
Instructor: Jonathan Zamick originally moved to California many years ago to be a brewer, before being lured back into the tech world. Four years ago, when looking to brew a mead (honey wine) with locally sourced honey, he ran across the world of bee keeping. He now does both. He also runs the swarm collection activity for the Alameda County Beekeepers Association, which has allowed him to discover all sorts of interesting new places to encounter populations of bees.
