James Keelaghan with Ben Bedford
James Keelaghan is one of Canadas greatest songwriters. But his influence and popularity are not limited to his native land. Keelaghan has a strong and loyal following around the world, both the cause and effect of appearances at the Denmarks famous Tonder Festival, the Hong Kong Festival, and Australias Port Fairy Folk Festival.
Keelaghans resonant baritone has been called everything from sweet and smooth, to coffee-rich, to glorious. Dirty Linen says, Keelaghans voice is so easy to listen to that the thorns in his lyrics can catch listeners unawares.
Even if youve never heard that voice, youre likely to have heard his work. His Cold Missouri Waters was recorded by folk supergroup Cry, Cry, Cry.

A storyteller from the age of 3, Ben Bedford dictated stories to his parents before he could hold a pen. He picked up the guitar at 14 after watching a friend play on a camping trip. When he discovered his mom's Gordon Lightfoot collection, Bedford began a foray into folk and Americana. With a degree in history, its only natural that his songs are shaped by a fascination with human truths and the plight of man through the ages.
