Thu. Aug. 29 at 7:30pm $10 adv./$10 door Dance ages 21 +
1973: Where The Beat Meets The Street is a celebration of the the most enduring songs from 1973, the year popular music truly embraced deep, danceable grooves, featuring music from Stevie Wonder, Led Zeppelin, The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, War, Elton John, Herbie Hancock, Dr John, Little Feat, Dr. John and Steely Dan. With John Hanrahan (Matt Hartle, A Love Supreme Quartet, Heavy Traffic), Pete Sawyer (Brightshine, Seconds On End), Jordan Feinstein (Phil Lesh, Stu Allen, La Gente), Murph Murphy (Stu Allen, Poor Mans Whiskey) and many special guests. Brightshine: Seamlessly combining Rock, Funk, Latin and Jazz influences, Brightshine has created an expansive and expressive sound that is uniquely their own. Brightshine features Pete Sawyer's evocative lyrics and stylistically diverse compositions as well as the band's fluidly expressive improvisations. Their debut album Shadows In The Sky was recorded live with minimal overdubs and is a document of the musical prowess and tone poetry of the musicians as well as the telepathic interaction the band built with one another during the arrangement and recording process. Brightshine features Jordan Feinstein (Phil Lesh, La Gente, Stu Allen), Murph Murphy (Poor Man's Whiskey, Stu Allen), Pete Sawyer (Seconds On End, Echo Street) and Maria Caycedo (Verismo Opera Company) with special guest John Hanrahan (Love Supreme Quartet, Matt Hartle) on drums.
