Manila Galleon Music and Cardoso's "Missa Philippina" with San Francisco Renaissance Voices
Argentina has tango ... Mexico has mariachi ... Cuba has son ... and the Philippines has harana. Join us for this unique concert celebrating the commonality of music traced through the giant ships that plied the Pacific waters for over 300 years. What a delight to be joined once again by Florante Aguilar, internationally-renowned guitarist, composer and documentary film-maker. Mr. Aguilar is a recognized expert on the music of Harana, Philippine music inspired by the music of the Spanish Renaissance and produced the critically-acclaimed documentary, "Harana, the Movie." Mr. Aguilar will perform music from his CD, The Manila Galleon Guitar Project and our singers will perform Portuguese composer Manuel Cardoso's (1566-1650) "Missa Philippina" to complete this spectacular ending to our Quinceaera season!
