Spend those hot summer nights at The Side Yard Farm every second Wednesday of the month this summer. Join us on Wednesday, August 14th for Bike in Movie Night on the farm. We started movie nights in order to bring community together and spotlight some really talented artisans. This August enjoy cold brews from Oakshire Brewing , Chinese comfort food bites from XLB Pdx and sweet treats from Heim Bakery . We will be showing 'A League of Their Own', the 1992 classic starring Tom Hanks & Geena Davis about the first all American girls professional baseball league.
OAKSHIRE BREWING & BEER HALL Oakshire is a community-inspired, small-batch brewing company founded in 2006. They are locally owned, employ 25 people, and produce a wide variety of beers at an extremely high level of quality through their three distinct brewing programs: Core, Pilot, and Vintage. Oakshire beers are distributed throughout the Pacific Northwest and they take rigorous and diligent strides to bring you the freshest beer on the planet.
The Oakshire Brewing team is excited to announce the upcoming opening of the Oakshire Beer Hall at 5013 NE 42nd in Portland, OR. "Oakshire's reason for being is to create and share great beer experiences," states Jeff Althouse, Oakshire's Founder and CEO. "We are thrilled to bring our exciting draft line-up and casual atmosphere of the Eugene Public House to the Cully and Concordia neighborhoods in Northeast Portland." Chef Ed Sablan will be taking over the kitchen at Oakshire with BIBA! CHamoru Kitchen!
HEIM BAKERY After dipping her toes into farmer's markets and wholesale, Jennifer Plitzko of 'Heim Bakery & Cafe', now showcases her German-American roots in her first brick & mortar. Located in the Roseway neighborhood, the Heim team offers scrumptious pastries and nourishing food in an inviting, homey 'living room' atmosphere. Heim works with other local businesses and farms, you'll find rotating seasonal elements on their curated menu. And have you met Herman? They're Heim's sourdough starter that gives all the bread and waffles life and such great flavor.
XLB PDX XLB is a Chinese comfort food restaurant specializing in its namesake, xiao long bao. Chef Jasper Shen's menu strives to deliver no fuss "straight up Chinese food" in a casual yet thoughtfully decorated setting. Besides the signature Shanghai soup dumplings, you can also find the open kitchen cranking out bao, noodles, and stir-fries to pair with a Lucky Buddha or one of the local microbrews on tap. With 40 year old Chinese lanterns, Kung fu-inspired artwork and hand painted Chinese Zodiac wallpaper, there's no mistaking the attention to detail that went into designing XLB. Cap off a hearty meal with complimentary Jasmine tea and fortune cookies and you're sure to leave on a positive note. XLB is a counter service style restaurant.
*There will be GF & vegan food options available. We will also have local wine available for folks that dont drink beer.
