Jeffery N. Lund, Music Director Ilkka Talvi, Concertmaster ****CONSTRUCTION ALERT!**** Due to the expansion of Foster High School, construction is impacting building access and parking lots. Currently the only access to the Performing Arts Center is from the east end of the building, which is the door accessed from the large parking lot between the High School and Tukwila Pool on S. 144th St. In addition to that lot, parking is available along most nearby streets (unless signed otherwise), one block west at the Tukwila Schools Services building, and two blocks east at the District Administration building just past Showalter Middle School. Please allow a few extra minutes for parking. More about the concert: We are thrilled to feature our principal cellist, Tom Walworth, on the Lalo Cello Concerto in February! Tom is a long-standing member of the orchestra as well as a splendid musician. One of the unique qualities of Rainier Symphony amongst other community orchestras, is our ability to feature our own musicians as soloists, and present concerts of the highest artistic quality.
Bookending Tom's concerto, the concert will open with Verdi's Overture to Nabucco, an opera set shortly before an impending war between the Israelites and a Babylonian army. After intermission, the orchestra will perform Beethoven's most famous work: Symphony No. 5 in C Minor. This piece is one of the most popular pieces in the orchestral repertoire, and is performed dozens of times each year all over the world.
Note: In the event of unforeseen circumstances, programs and artists may change without notice.
