Julian Abbott Quartet
Julian Abbott, improvisor and composer hailing from Brunswick Maine, brings his new project
exploring the compositions of Thelonious Monk to Cadenza. Julian Abbott has experience in a variety of
settings from freely improvised music, hip hop, to the Jazz tradition.
The compositions of Thelonious Monk are intriguing in that they are malleable while able to
maintain Monks distinctive and unorthodox sound. The musics mischievous misleading simplicity invite
reinterpretation. Join Julian Abbott and his quartet of up-and-coming Maine Jazz musicians at Cadenza
for their perspective on Monk!
