Mini somatic discovery camp for adults - "Every initiation needs a container"

Week-long mini somatic discovery camp for adults, weaving together somatic, energetic, and improvisational movement practices (curated by artist Lindsay Hopkins, hosted by the Chicago Moving Company).

Workshops in Improvisational dance/movement with Kristina Isabelle; Group Reiki Healing and Meditation with Lindsay Hopkins; Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE) with Carrie Drapac; Morning Practice with the Elements (Hopkins); and a by-appointment photo/somatic exploration (Hopkins).  See full schedule/details below.  Note:  the morning practice workshop on Saturday is a $5 cash drop-in and the Capture the body in light eperience is by appointment only.

How do we reclaim our connection to our bodies and to our ancestral past as a way to become more present with who we are and who we can become? How does working with the body support us in reclaiming our relationship to ourselves and the earth in a symbiotic relationship of giving and receiving? This week of research as practice / practice as research aims to create a process for self-initiation to reclaim the body and move with its history. By exploring the terrain of the body through captured image and movement, there lies aesthetic possibilities that hold witness for its ancient wisdom. Weaving together somatic, energetic and improvisational practices and working with the elements of earth, air, water, fire and ether, we awaken the bodys intuitive abilities to connect back to self and the natural world.

Each workshop may be taken alone or these 3 (TRE, Reiki, Jam) combined into a package.  NOTE:  To register, SELECT DATE OF WORKSHOP FROM DROPDOWN AT LEFT; package of 3 workshops in under start date of first workshop:  June 24.
Schedule and details:

TRE with Carrie Drapac //
Wednesday July 24 6:30-8:00 pm
$15 for Artists + Friends of Chicago Moving Company
$30 General Admission

Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE) is a somato-energetic self-care practice that allows us to access and reclaim the legacy of our evolutionary past. Regular TRE practice creates profound release of the psoas (in Taoist tradition, the muscle of the soul) and fascial unwindings.
Together, well go through a series of exercises that activate the seat of primal instinct, our brain stem, to reawaken our bodys mostly forgotten tremor mechanism.

Tremoring allows us to naturally discharge accumulated physical, emotional and spiritual memory that stores in our system after fight/flight/freeze responses. Reclaiming this mechanism and the bio-intelligence of our tissues literally embodies our deepest urge for survival, and more profoundly, our elemental desire to flourish.

a group Reiki healing + guided meditation with Lindsay Hopkins //
Thursday July 25 6:30-8pm
$15 for Artists + Friends of Chicago Moving Company
$25 General Admission

This group Reiki energy healing session brings to light areas in the body that want to be seen. This energetic practice will help you tap into the bodys history of: physical injury, emotional trauma, environmental toxins (the body holds the history of industrial toxicity, read : climate change on a somatic level) and inherited ancestral memory stored in the body. Participants will receive an energy healing that works on the cellular level, tapping into both genetic memory and lived histories since birth. When we release these histories that have been stored in the body we make space for more light to come in and create an opportunity to reclaim our connection to ourselves and the natural world. Well work with the elements and the chakras in a guided meditation in this group healing.

elemental jam with Kirstina Isabelle //
Friday, July 26 -  10 am-noon
$15 for Artists + Friends of Chicago Moving Company
$20 General Admission

Elemental Jam is an improvisational experience exploring the elements as a source for movement development, qualitative resources and body awareness.

We will explore how ether, air, fire, water and earth move through the body as a pure physical exploration and as a mental and emotional exploration. To discover and remain curious about the natural world and how it can be enhanced in our own bodies to create full body awareness and develop the storytelling potential within.

a morning practice with the elements with Lindsay Hopkins //
Saturday, July 27 - 11 am - noon
$5 cash drop-in

A movement ritual exploring the elements and cardinal directions as supportive tools to the body

Capture the body in light //
By appointment
Honor the somatic connection to self by documenting the body in light! Join my solo studio practice and schedule a 1-on-1 photo appointment/somatic exploration to capture the energy and forgotten histories hidden within the somatic structure. By documenting the body through the use of photography, we can allow hidden patterns and codes within our bodies to be seen.
