The Lucky 5 Jazz Band
On Saturday, August 17th, at 7:30 pm, Tompkins Corners will bring back The Lucky 5 Jazz Band, a six-piece, hard-driving group that blends hot swing and gypsy jazz to create a unique, foot-stomping blend of music with wide appeal.
This exciting band, which hails from the Great Barrington area of Massachusetts, has been entertaining audiences and dancers for seven years with their vibrant renditions of tunes from the '30s,'40s, and '50s and are known for performing original compositions as well as traditional gems from a bygone era.
Band members are Jonathan Talbott - violin and vocals, Carolyn Dufraine - trombone and vocals, Matt Downing - bass and vocals, Kip Beacco - guitar and vocals, Emily Herder - Clarinet, and Will Carroll - drums. They are all highly seasoned touring musicians who have played with The Hunger Mountain Boys, Lauren Ambrose & The Leisure Class, and have traveled, performed and recorded with artists such as Peter Gabriel, Tony Bennett, Neko Case, Iris DeMent, Bobby Previte, Del McCoury, and Jim Lauderdale.
