SOLD OUT - Jamie Laval in Decatur, GA
Jamie Laval, internationally-acclaimed Celtic violinist, will present a fun-filled musical evening of music tracing the immigration of the Scots-Irish to Appalachia, complete with amusing stories and toe-tapping melodies which highlight the historical and cultural ties throughout the Celtic lands. The program will appeal to families, youth, seniors, and devotees of ethnic, jazz, and classical music.

Winner of the U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Championship (2002), Jamie Laval renders the ancient Celtic art form with stunning virtuosity and contemporary flair. "One of the hottest fiddlers out there" (Asheville Citizen-Times), Jamie has appeared on the NBC Today Show, collaborated on Dave Mathews' album "Some Devil," and performed for Her Majesty the Queen. He tours nationally and in Scotland performing over 100 concerts per year. Jamie's current album, Murmurs and Drones,  won the popular vote for "Best World Traditional Album" in the 2012 Independent Music Awards.

Jamie began his musical career studying classical violin at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. Later he pursued careers as a professional symphony musician, recording studio artist, improvising violinist, and contra dance fiddler. But his passion for the haunting sounds of rural Irish and Scottish folk music eventually usurped all other preoccupations, and he has devoted himself exclusively to Celtic music ever since. A native of Seattle, WA, he currently resides in Asheville, NC.
