During the 17th and 18th centuries, the name Bach was synonymous with musician. An extensive family tree, beginning with Velt Bach in the mid-16th century, begat a family musical lineage unlike any other in history. Though Johann Sebastian Bach is considered the greatest composer of all time, his musical genius was built upon generations of predecessor Bachs who passed on a wealth of riches upon which the young Sebastian would be shaped. Join us as we explore a sampling of the Bach family tree and hear the unfolding of how the young Bach came to be.
