Turkish Roman "Gypsy" Dance Workshop
Turkish Roman ("Gypsy") dance workshop with master dancer Elizabeth Strong, fresh from touring the West Coast with Rachel Brice this teacher was recommended as one of the best people to study with in San Francisco by Ultra Gypsy's Jill Parker. She'll be teaching in Seattle one day only! Class size is limited. Sign up early to secure your space.
Class Description: All levels welcome. This class will focus on Turkish Roman ("Gypsy") dance to the 9/8 rhythm and will include technique and cultural background. This dance form is very expressive, intense and fun! Students are encouraged to wear yoga pants, a plain hip sash, and a comfortable top.
Teacher Bio:
Elizabeth grew up in a tradition of music and dance, and began formally studying Middle Eastern dance at the age of 18 in 1996. Over the past several years she has spent extensive time studying Turkish Roman dance with Rom men and women in Istanbul, Turkey, and other local forms in Eastern Europe and North Africa.
She currently performs and teaches both locally and nationally. She recently returned from a tour with Rachel Brice, Mardi Love, and the Toids, and will be teaching this summer at events such as Tribal Quest North West, Kosmos World Music and Dance Camp, and Lark in the Morning.
