The Last Five Years is a contemporary musical from composer Jason Robert Brown that follows two young artists over the course of their relationship. Cathy, an aspiring actor, tells her side of the story backwards, from the couple's ultimate falling out to their first date five years earlier. Jamie, a novelist, shares his version of events from the first time he saw Cathy through the day he leaves their apartment for the last time. The two alternate songs, moving past one another in time, gradually revealing the depth of their love, passion, and failings. Heart-breaking and terribly real, this show is a reminder that no one ever fully understands another person's relationship...even when they share it.
