Ethiopian Music Night with Munit Mesfin and the Either/Orchestra All-Stars

Russ Gershon and the Either/Orchestra have been playing their interpretations of Ethiopian music for over twenty years, including multiple trips to Ethiopia and their landmark recording "Ethiopiques 20: Live in Addis," as well as collaborations with old time great Mahmoud Ahmed, Mulatu Astate and others.
Munit Mesfin grew up in both Ethiopia and the US, and sings the songs of both countries beautifully. A former resident of Massachusetts, she now lives in the Washington DC area.
Russ heard Munit sing in a duo with German guitarist Jeorg in Addis Ababa in 2011 at the opening festivities of a United Nations facility, and vowed to work with her when the opportunity arose.

Joined by an all-star collection of Ethio-savvy Either/Orchestra members and alumni, as well as guitarist Mike Castellana of the Blue Ribbons, Munit will be singing playing Ethiopian AND American funk and jazz for your listening and dancing pleasure.

The event is a party, with food and beverages included. You can expect some Ethiopian specialties like doro wat (the traditional chicken stew), and you are encouraged to also BYO (particularly of what you like to drink) to add to the party.
