MISS SMITH PRESENTS
Aurora Sherman in Love Wins at the Border A Benefit Concert for Immigrant Families Together with Stephanie Lynne Smith, piano and Erik Gullickson, tenor
Saturday, September 7, 2019 3pm Loucks Auditorium at Salem Library Salem, Oregon
Are you outraged by the treatment of asylum seekers in the United States of America? Do you feel helpless about the separation policy that is harming immigrant families in our country? Does your heart hurt at the thought of children behind bars?
You can do something. We all can.
Even far from the border, we can band together and work to reunite families, welcome those in need of safety, and stand for justice and freedom for all. On September 7 at Loucks Auditorium at Salem Library, Miss Smith is proud to present Aurora Sherman in her second fundraising concert that will benefit Immigrant Families Together, an organization that provides rapid response unification for families separated by the zero tolerance policy. Immigrant Families Together assists with the raising of bond funds, provides pro bono legal representation, and arranges safe transportation, long term housing, food and medical assistance and resources to sustain parents during the process of being reunified with their children. The program features works by female composers, spirituals and classical selections, as well as movements from Street Requiem by Kathleen McGuire, Andy Payne and Jonathan Welch. Joined by tenor Erik Gullickson and pianist Stephanie Lynne Smith, Love Wins at the Border is an event that seeks to right a grievous wrong through the power of human expression.
You can do something. We all can.
