On the Road Tour - DAHLIAS AND MORE . . .
Our first stop is at Master Gardener, Judy Hargreaves' half-acre garden, including over 160 different dahlia varieties, a rose garden, colorful containers, a small fruit orchard, temperature-controlled greenhouse, a variety of interesting grasses, trees and shrubs and a panoramic view of the Columbia River.
Next we visit the garden of Larry Smith. "A more whimsical garden you won't find," says Larry. Its focus is a wide variety of vegetables, annuals, perennials, and dahlias with a continuous bounty to be harvested over a long season.
Larry participates in fairs and dahlia shows from May through September. Well learn about preparing flowers for display competitions.
Garden Fever, a NE Portland neighborhood nursery, features pollinator-friendly plants such as white lace flower, sedums, succulents, yarrow as well as edible plants and jungle fever plants such as fan palms.
Garden Fever is a place where gardeners, novice and expert, can find good plants, good tools, good dirt and helpful advice on sustainable garden practices.
