IPS 50th Anniversary Celebration
The Institute for Policy Studies would like to cordially invite you to be a part of something special. IPS's 50th Anniversary Celebration and Reunion will bring together luminaries from across generations and highlight the amazing work of bold, progressive social movements over the last five decades.
From October 11th-13th, 2013, we will host a special weekend of events in Washington, DC honoring activists and activism and envisioning a plan for a bold, progressive future. Amy Goodman, Harry Belafonte, Barbara Ehrenreich, Seymour Hersh, Katrina vanden Heuvel, and others will all be there as we open a dialog for activists to envision "The Next 50 Years."
Ideas Into Action Festival The Festival from Friday, October 11th, through Sunday, October 13th, 2013 will feature fast-paced, inclusive dialogue with notable activists, interactive workshops, forums, artistic expressions, and more. Activities will be ongoing both inside and outside forum rooms.
This will be a "pay-what-you-can" event and will feature two-days of dynamic conversation on the past, present, and future of social movements.
The Festival will conclude with an innovative "Ideas Slam" at 12:00 noon on Sunday, October 13, 2013 which will provide a chance for new and experienced activists to present their ideas to change the world in brief, entertaining bursts and win cash prizes!

Celebration of Saul Landau Saul Landau was an internationally known scholar, author, and filmmaker. He wrote 14 books, thousands of newspaper and magazine articles and reviews, and made more than 40 films and TV programs on social, political, economic and historical issues. He was an IPS fellow from 1972 until his death from cancer at age 77 on September 9, 2013.
We wish to celebrate his life and memory in a special session during our 50th anniversary.
IDEA SLAM Got an idea to change the world? How would you create positive change? This event will showcase the best ideas around.
You can submit a 3-minute video or a 300-word description of your idea to enter the competition and win prizes. The deadline for submissions is Monday, September 16, 2013.
