Guided Historic Building 50 & Tunnel Tour
Tours will accommodate 15 people maximum and be held on:
***IMPORTANT - READ THIS: These tours require guests to be physically capable to climb up and down steep stairs and walk through low-clearance areas. A parent or legal guardian MUST accompany and sign the waiver for EACH child under 18 years of age. (no friends' kids.) Photo IDs required. Sorry, NO children under age 12 admitted.Cameras and monopods will be allowed, however any other audio/visual equipment will NOT be permitted***
The tours will guide participants through the original 1885 "North End" of Building 50 that has sat since the State closed the Hospital doors almost 25 years ago. In addition to Building 50, guests will be guided through the underground utility tunnels, originally used to connect and serve buildings all across the original State Hospital campus.
This final portion of Building 50 is available to tour for a limited time due to planned reconstruction this spring. Once completed, there will be no other portions of unrestored Building 50, so you could be one of the last lucky few to see it with your own eyes. Tour ends in the restored Mercato portion of the building where shops, tasting rooms and dining are now open seven days a week.
Please allow 90 minutes for the tour, with photo opportunities throughout the duration. In addition you'll receive an exclusive tour discount card to Village shops & dining!
