LinkUp Residency Artists: Christian Bambara, Angeline Gragasin, and Szewai Lee
Three artists present the results of their six-month residencies through the LinkUp program at Links Hall:
1) In a humorous diptych, Szewai Lee and ensemble tell a story of discrimination, following it from birth to death. Each performer tells their own story, illustrating personal prejudices with music, words, and movement.
2) Angeline Gragasins ANGELUS NOVUS draws inspiration from the traditions of Medieval Pageantry and American historical reenactments to bring a fresh and physical perspective to the intersection of media, mogul, and momentum. A vivid and playful depiction of how these elements can both support and betray a community's history.
3) CCBdance Projects Ninga portrays the ways that the human body and personality are transformed by the struggles of living in a violent world. Choreographer Christian Bambara asks why people are victims of racism, class prejudice, and indifference that are manifested in immigration.
