A heartwarming tale of friendship, love, and loyalty, based on the Gospel According to Matthew, Godspell tells the story of a group of disparate, eclectic individuals who rally around the charming and charismatic Jesus Christ, using mime, games, and physical comedy to convey the lessons in his parables. With music by Stephen Schwartz and a book by John-Michael Tebelak, Godspell has proven to be a timeless sensation, with messages of kindness, tolerance, and community that continue to resonate even today.

GODSPELL features emerging teen actors from Arts Umbrella's Summerstage musical theatre intensive. With a focus on process and performance, students will have had the chance to work on voice, dance, and acting over the course of three weeks, culminating in the performance of a full-length Broadway musical.
