Theatre & Opera Mondays offer the audience a rare peek into the process behind creating a new musical or opera before full staging. Every Monday in August will present a glimpse into the world of New York theatre rarely seen by the general public.
Award-winning songwriters Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich celebrate over 25 years of romantic comedy writing with a one-night only, all-original show. With a little help from some Broadway friends, this summer gathering promises old favorites, new debuts, and sneak peeks at upcoming projects.

MARCY HEISLER (Author/Lyricist) and ZINA GOLDRICH (Composer) have been collaborating together since 1993. They were the first women ever honored with the Fred Ebb Award for Musical Theatre Songwriting, and Heisler was honored with the 2012 Kleban Prize for Outstanding Lyrics. Current projects include EVER AFTER, (Paper Mill Playhouse/NJ), Junie Bs Essential Survival Guide to School (Lucille Lortel, Off-Broadway), Hollywood Romance (Scott Sanders Productions) and a musical adaptation of a Universal Studios romantic classic (Universal Stage Productions). In 2012, Goodspeed Opera House premiered The Great American Mousical, based on the bestselling book by author/director Julie Andrews. In 2016, Goldrich and Heisler continued their collaboration with Andrews, contributing songs to her Netflix series Julies Green Room.They earned 2009 Drama Desk nominations for Outstanding Lyrics and Music for their musical Dear Edwina, a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for Theatreworks USAs JUNIE B. JONES (based on the popular childrens book) and a Helen Hayes Award nomination for their Kennedy Center production of SNOW WHITE ROSE RED (and FRED). They have provided original songs for The Disney Channel, Disney Interactive and Feature Animation projects, Disney Theatricals, PBS, Nickelodeon, and others. As performers, they have toured domestically and internationally with The Marcy and Zina Show. November 2009 marked the release of MARCY AND ZINA: The Album on Yellow Sound Label. SCOTT COULTER is one of New Yorks most honored vocalists. For his work in cabaret, Scott has received five MAC Awards (Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs), five Bistro Awards and two Nightlife Awards for Outstanding Vocalist and has performed at most of NYCs top rooms including Birdland, 54 Below, The Oak Room at the Algonquin, and Feinsteins at The Regency where he spent a record-setting eight months performing the revue 11 OCLOCKNUMBERS AT 11 OCLOCK which he also co-created, directed and musically arranged. His self-titled debut CD won the 2003 MAC Award for Outstanding Recording and was chosen as the best recording of the year by TheatreMania and Cabaret Scenes magazines. Scott was director and star of A CHRISTMAS CAROL: THE SYMPHONIC CONCERT in its world premiere with the Baltimore Symphony and reprised his performance in the Emmy-nominated PBS production which premiered in December 2013. He is an Emmy nominee himself for his work on American Song.
Justin Schuman is a graduate of Northwestern University. Originally from Long Island, Justin's home base is now New York City, where he's established his career as a performer and runs a thriving photography business. He's toured nationally and performed regionally, including proudly appearing in both productions of Ever After, at Paper Mill Playhouse and the Alliance Theater. MAIRI DORMAN-PHANEUF, a cellist originally from Scotland, is established as a solo, chamber, Broadway and recording artist. She has held chairs in sixteen Broadway productions, including The Bridges of Madison County, Sunday In The Park With George, A Little Night Music, and most recently, the Lincoln Center Production of My Fair Lady. Off-Broadway credits include Floyd Collins, Passion and the premier productions of The Last Five Years (Chicago 2001, NYC 2002), Her love of the Broadway genre has led to creating cello arrangements celebrating the music of Jason Robert Brown, Sara Bareilles, Adam Guettel, Jerry Bock, Stephen Schwartz, and she has been a featured performer in concert with Christine Ebersole, Jeremy Jordan, Maria Friedman and Ariana DeBose. Following her sold-out debut at Birdland Jazz Club, she continues to present multiple concerts in her series, More About The Melody.
Mary Ann McSweeney was born in Aptos, California. She started playing piano at the age of five and began to study violin at age 8. She has played with jazz legends Dizzy Gillespie, Joanne Brackeen, Lee Konitz, Gil Goldstein, and Bucky Pizzarelli. She has also played for renowned conductors, Leonard Bernstein, Lalo Schifrin, and John Williams. McSweeney has performed with Renee Rosness, Vic Juris, Ken Peplowski, Dennis Mackrel, Lewis Nash and Larry Goldings at various venues throughout the USA. Big Band performances include Maiden Voyage, the Clayton/Hamilton Orchestra and Diva. She has performed with her own quintet at the Seixal Jazz Festival in Portugal and the Mary Lou Williams Jazz Festival at the Kennedy Center. She has arranged for and recorded with Warner Brothers artist, Lea Delaria. McSweeney has toured Europe and performed with David Krakauers Klezmer Madness. McSweeney performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival with Claire Daly and the Baritone Monk Band, which was rated in the top ten on jazz radio in the USA. She performed at the White House with the Eli Yamin Quintet with President Obama in attendance. She was musical director/arranger for three shows at NYC's Birdland featuring Jane Monheit in a program that included selections from Irving Berlin and the Cole Porter musical, Anything Goes.
