Artichoke Gone Electric
Artichoke Gone Electric: Songwriting with Magnets and Coils and Orchestral Instruments!
Shane Brown Accompanied by Matt Sulikowski on baritone saxophone
William Stafford Accompanied by Owen Hofmann-Smith on cello and Sheila McGrane on flute
Adam Sweeney Accompanied by Julio Appling on double-bass
Warm up the tube amps and rosen the bows, we are going to electrify Artichoke. Three local powerhouse songwriters leave their rock combos at home opting instead for the classical timbres of some of Portlands most gifted players. Shane Brown is a cult of personality; his music is idiosyncratic and highly original but his groove is timeless. William Stafford's rock is eclectic and lyric driven, drawing from a huge index of influences but always paying homage to the masters. Adam Sweeney is earnest and open and very easy to fall for. His hook-driven songs have a universality about them that will disarm then protect you.
