Comedienne Debra Cole at Le Chat Noir Theatre Aug 24, 2013
It's the Red Wine and Cheese Dip tour with comedienne Debra Cole. Come enjoy the wry,witty, and sometimes dark humor of Atlanta's favorite female comic. Debra will be at Le Chat Noir Theatre in Augusta, GA August 24, 2013. The doors open at 8 and the show begins at 8:30. Also performing will be Jacksonville native, Jake Head, one of the best up and coming comics in the area. Tickets are $20. The address is 304 8th Street Augusta, GA 30901
Debra Cole is a native of Waycross and a graduate of Valdosta State University where she studied music. She is known for cerebral humor delivered in an authentic southern twang. In her show, she covers current events, public school, politics, relationships, bad customer service, motherhood, life as a comic, and much more. Sometimes edgy, but always surprising with her seemingly sweet nature and impeccable timing, audiences are guaranteed a good time. Her career as a stand-up comic began some years back after friends urged her to give it a try. She eventually left her job as a teacher to pursue comedy full-time. However, the path was not without road blocks. She experienced a difficult divorce when her daughter was just 11 months old. She continued to pursue her dream and kept bringing the laughs despite the recession, co-parenting headaches, self-doubt, and the loneliness that artists and single parents often endure.
Debra hosted and produced The Comedy Rocket Series at the Ansley Park Playhouse for over a year. After the show ended, she hosted the Funny Fridays Series at the Aurora Theatre in Lawreceville from January 2012 to June of 2013. In addition to notable performances in clubs and the Laugh Your Asheville Off Comedy Festival, Debra has performed for numerous charities and groups such as the LGBT AA Organization known as Hotlanta Roundup, Pets are Loving Support, Limmud Jewish Festival, Atlanta Food Bank, Decatur Arts Festival, Libertarian Party, Tennessee Democrats, and many more.
