"wood bone mill" Book Release Party and Performance
Between the fall of 2017 and the summer of 2018, "wood bone mill" (a performance by Matty Davis and Bryan Saner) was presented site-specifically at Bryan's home. Undertaken in each of the four seasons and perpetually re-shaped by the earth's orbit around the sun, it was a teaching, a celebration, a prayer, a torch-passing between limbs . . .
We are excited to invite you to Bryan's home at 4870 N. Hermitage Avenue in Chicago one last time, for the release of a book related to "wood bone mill." The book will be the work's definitive archive, charting its movement through time, but also delving into its inception and development to explore ways of working together, the building of a home and community, and exhausting the possible. It is made in collaboration with designers Ayham Ghraowi and Matt Wolf, and features photographic work by Eryka Dellenbach, David Kasnic, Whitten Sabbatini, Jake Saner, and Roark Johnson, as well an interview conducted by Kara Jefts, alongside drawings and diagrams by Matty and Bryan.
We hope that the community who made "wood bone mill" possible and such a special experience will help support the production of the book, so please join us! A $40 ticket will guarantee you a copy of the book, as well as an invitation to a performance that reimagines "wood bone mill," involving a new crew of collaborators and salvaged architectural objects. Tickets exclusive to the performance and party are also available for $15. If you are out of town, or can't make the event, you can still snag the book for $25. This book is being self-published, and all proceeds support its production.
Love and utmost gratitude, Matty and Bryan
